Fresh Start Sport Horses was founded in 2015 and has been a non-profit, 501(c)(3) since 2018.
Fresh Start Sport Horses has been dedicated to retraining and rehoming over 100 thoroughbreds to date. On average we have 15-20 thoroughbreds in our program.
All horses that come into our program are thoroughly evaluated and trained before being offered to ensure they go to suited homes. All our riders are professional upper level riders.
We work with a variety of breeders/training farms as well as other organizations helping horses transition from the race track to their next career.
Trainers:
Our head trainer Cassandra Andersson is a dressage rider with plenty of experience in jumpers, eventing and hunters as well.
Cassandra has successfully competed up the levels in dressage earning her USDF Bronze and Silver medals and is currently working on finishing her Grand Prix scores for her Gold medal.
Our assistant trainers are usually temporary riders from Europe that have competed to 1.40m in jumpers or high levels in eventing or dressage. Currently our assistant trainer is Varvara from Ukraine who is a jumper rider that does an excellent job with our thoroughbreds!
Our groom Shreya has worked with us for over 2 years and was previously a working student here after adopting her first horse from us when she was only 12.
